Kala Harinarayanan

Present Position: Kala is the Director of Environmental Health and Safety at the American Museum of Natural History and has worked at the Museum since August 2002.

Present Responsibilities: Her main role is to prevent injury and illness to the Museum staff, volunteers and general public.

Past Experience: Before working at the Museum, she spent 1 year consulting in the safety and health field within manufacturing, hospitals and municipalities in the NYC metro area. Clients included, MTA, Local 3 and Westchester County. Prior to consulting she was an Industrial Hygienist at James Hardie Building Products for 2 years.

Education: She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Safety Sciences from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
