We don’t know what we don’t know.  People all grow up with a dispositional way of communicating with others.  Those whose repertoire is limited and/or whose previous modeling was dysfunctional suffer professionally.  The coaching relationship makes the client aware of alternative modes of communicating, provides a safe setting to risk, and reinforces positive efforts.  Ordinarily within a relatively brief time, clients notice the correlation between an expanded communication and an enriched work and personal life.
