Weldon L. KennedyVice Chairman Guardsmark “I feel it to be a very easy transition to go from the FBI the premier law enforcement agency to Guardsmark the premier private security agency.” Weldon Kennedy possesses a wealth of law enforcement experience. He retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation as the Deputy Director, the second highest position in the organization. As Deputy Director, he interacted with government and law enforcement leaders nationally and internationally. Weldon enjoyed a 33-year FBI career with many outstanding accomplishments. He is the only FBI employee to have been honored twice with the President’s Distinguished Rank Award, the first presented by President George Bush in 1991 and the second by President Bill Clinton in 1996. During his FBI career, he served in Portland, Ore.; Las Vegas; Miami; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Newark, N.J.; Boston; Jackson, Miss.; and Atlanta. Weldon served in three senior field positions as the Special Agent in Charge of the Atlanta, Jackson, Miss., and Phoenix offices. He was appointed the FBI’s Associate Deputy Director in 1992 and to his most recent post of Deputy Director in 1995. Weldon exemplified the cutting edge of crisis management during the Oklahoma City bombing case, where he was credited with the quick arrests of suspects. His skills were also demonstrated in 1987, when he directed an FBI SWAT team that successfully handled a hostage situation in Atlanta without loss of life.
